The Alabama Crimson Tide is the team that represents the University of Alabama in the game of American football. The Crimson Tide competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). With 814 official victories, 14 national championship titles, 26 conference titles, 1 Heisman award winner, and having a NCAA-record of 59 postseason bowl appearances, Alabama football has been considered the most dominant college football program of all time.

The Crimson Tide leads the SEC West Division with seven division titles and seven appearances in the SEC Championship Game. Alabama holds a winning record against every current and former SEC school. The Associated Press (AP) currently ranks Alabama 5th in all-time final AP Poll appearances, with 48.

The Crimson Tide currently plays their home games at Bryant-Denny Stadium, located on the University of Alabama’s campus. With a total capacity of 101,821, Bryant-Denny Stadium is the fifth-largest stadium in the United States.

UPDATE: On January 9, 2011, #2 Alabama beat #1 LSU 21-0 in the 2011 BCS National Championship game. The Crimson Tide held the LSU Tigers to only be able to get past the 30-yard line once the whole game. The 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide football team has been considered to have had the best defensive program in NCAA college football history.
